Apple Wins EU-Wide Injunction Aganist Samsung Galaxy Tab
A German court has just granted Apple preliminary injunction of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1. This ruling primarily means that Samsung’s new 10 inch tablet will not go on sale in Germany and soon to be the entire European Union.
Apple sued Samsung for “blatantly copying” the iPad, with claims of Patent infringement and a whole bunch of other infringements that we all know and love such as trademark violations and design patent infringement.
Apple and Samsung have both filed complaints in 11 courts in 9 countries. Though Samsung retaliated with its own law suits Samsung recently consolidated their claims.
EU-Wide injunction is a major blow to Samsung and will hinder the sales of the Galaxy Tab, Europe has been one of Samsung’s largest markets. If Apple get’s it’s way in the US and Asia, which it seems like they may in the US since Apple has been granted early access to Samsung products (not just the Galaxy Tab).
Apple states in it’s complaint
“Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products,”
While Samsung has taken numerous design element’s from Apple did it really warrant an Injunction? Apparently the EU believes so. For me I’ll just let these pictures decide…

I never liked Samsungs phones/tablets anyway. But they copied the connector lawl, and the cases and everything. The picture above speaks for itself. god damn.

Well they do mimic apple in some sort, BUT. Give me a tablet that aint a black square with proper connectors.
as for the case: lol samsung.
And as for the cable, the asus one is pretty much like that aswell. Why couldnt they just stick to mini-usb, so I dont have to buy freaking asus-only cable to charge my tablet at several places without having to drag with me the charger..
My bottom line anyways:
Even if Samsung is copying a little, they are doing it better than Apple.
Apple needs competition like this to innovate, or else they will just continue selling rather dumb products that noone really compares to superior products like whats happening now with android and ios.
To keep their customers, they have to invent something cool and new, because ios for tablet as it is now is just.. Not that good.
I still got the Asus tablet instead of the galaxy tab anyways.. :] Looks better, got OP keyboard, and usb + 2 sd card readers. + extremely nice battery solution.
But the bunch of applications they have in their apple store beats android, hands down. But we’re getting there!

Whats the point in owning a tablet anyway ? seems completely useless to me since my phone or laptop can do everything.

This has nothing to do about stealing design. With simple designs form fits function. This is blocking competition not innovation.

^ Cortex ARM does (Apple modified by license). But Samsung makes memory for the iPad… LOL

Well it says here Samsung manufactures these chips for Apple based on the Arm architecture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_A4
Who knows, I think they read it wrong or not. But regardless, this might have a heavy impact on the A4 and 5 chips’ manufacturing.

If you have the spare cash for one, its cool to have.
SURE I can browse the web on my 4 inch phone, but It’s a hella lot better and faster experience on my tablet, with 10 inch screen. I browse the web just as I would on my pc with my tablet, when using the phone, I just go to some newssites, never really bothering to check out the regular sites im on etc, just because it’s just not phone-friendly.
Also watching movies on the go is a winner with a tablet.
I’d say a tablet doesnt add stuff to your “what I can do with my devices” list, but rather just a cooler, better solution for many of the things your phone does.
if you want one, and can afford one.. Get one :]
