Alleged Anonymous members arrested
The FBI has been making arrests of alleged members of the hacker group, Anonymous. Anonymous is famous for its DDoS attacks on Paypal following Paypal’s decision to cut ties with Wikileaks. Most of the arrests were made in California, with one in Newark, New Jersey, and one in Tampa, Florida. There have also been computers seized from homes in Brooklyn, New York, and Long Island, New York.
The people arrested are being charged with with various counts of conspiracy and intentional damage to a protected computer. Lance Moore, 21, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, was arrested on the New Jersey Indictment for stealing confidential business information from AT&T servers. Lulzsec claimed responsibility for the attack on AT&T, not Anonymous. Anonymous’ intentions have historically been more politically motivated, where as Lulzsec has been in it for the lulz.

so much for our rights to peaceful demonstrations……but I’m sure ppl on anon ops are at work on their retaliation already
20 Jul 2011, 6:39 pm
yeah… what’s gonna happen? Attack on the FBI next?
20 Jul 2011, 8:37 pm
that would be sick…..not likely tho
20 Jul 2011, 9:39 pm
I don’t like Anonymous.

then turn off your tv ya faggit

When you make a protest in front of someone’s building, that’s a peaceful demonstration. When you enter the building and break and steal stuff, that’s criminal behaviour. Breaking into someone’s website and stealing their data in an attempt to harm the entity… that’s more like the second example. That being said, there’s few things in which I have agreed with Anonymous. For the most part they’re narrow-minded, blindsided, self-centered idiots. If a company operates within the law, that’s good enough for me.

anon might be all those things….but I’m still %100 behind em, someone needs to make a stand against the system even if its a bunch of narrow-minded self centered idiots.
They may not actually make a visible difference but they have brought alot of attention to things corporations and governments would have prefered stayed hidden.

imo, the fbi has better things to do than chase kids around…..
go catch some people selling / making kiddie porn, it would be a lot better for the nation than catching a kid fighting for internet freedom through illegal methods.
21 Jul 2011, 5:21 am
why doesn’t the hackers AND the FBI team up and get the people making/selling kiddie porn and leave the internet freedom fighting to the power rangers? o_O
“Somebody being a douche? You got 5 people to beat their ass, shoot them with guns, gank them with swords and jump in a giant robot and beat their ass some more until they explode, twice.”

There has also been four arrests in Holland, and one in the UK, a 16 year old who is believed to be part of Anonymous.

+1
21 Jul 2011, 7:37 am
Who are you calling a faggot?
21 Jul 2011, 7:56 am
Stop being so constantly angry… Really.
Anonymous is a ridiculous bunch of kids who think they are part of something cool
21 Jul 2011, 2:51 pm
actually, not too long ago, some hackers found a “child modeling site” they got into their databases and got all the members username / pass’s / emails and tried to contact the police… technically the site was legal as there was no nudity…. so someone who had the DB logged on as one of the trusted members and convinced other members to send him links to nude pictures…. they sent it in as an anonymous tip to the police and the whole site was shut down, and about 10 or 15 people were arrested.
21 Jul 2011, 3:55 pm
Do we even know if these guys are hackers? Most members of Anonymous just post fliers and stage protests. Sure they have their hacktivists, but most members aren’t hackers.
Hell, I just joined anonymous, and I’m not a hacker. As far as I can tell, this is just the government trying to shut people up.
Do you even know what anonymous is, what their philosophy is, or how they operate?

they basically fight for free transfer of information.
also, as there is no leader, there is no one view. and as the videos are made by a few people… the videos do not always represent the group.
imo, anonymous is a bunch of script kiddies… i like there ideas, but not they way they go about it.
21 Jul 2011, 5:46 pm
I can’t see how anonymous could just be a bunch of script kiddies… considering they’ve hacked into major organisations, they must be pretty advanced.
My keyboard is broken, on screen keyboard FTW!

I have OSK as a startup program.
21 Jul 2011, 6:26 pm
mainly because all they do is DDoS people.
there are no real hackers on anonymous… they just have a program called low orbit ion cannon that is basically a voluntary botnet…. it links to an irc, and then fires packets at targets all together….
most of the large things is because of one person, or a group of hackers that then just came to be anonymous so they dont get arrested…. sort of like passing the blame.
thats sort of what happened with the sony hack.
21 Jul 2011, 10:02 pm
My point was that they do more than just hack people. They actually go out and protest and post fliers as well. They’re trying to get more people to join them right now, so they’re going to be posting fliers and stuff in public places soon.
22 Jul 2011, 4:52 pm
I don’t like anonymous at all. I don’t think that completely open government is a good idea, as some things should be kept secret from other countries or nations that don’t like us.

doubt it…. as i said before… a lot of people who hack websites and what not are not part of anonymous and do not ocnsider themselves to be part of anonymous. instead, the company was hacked states that anonymous did it. this makes it seem like they know more than they do (as most of the time they don’t know who did it, as well as make it seem like they were less at fault, as everyone thinks anonymous is some super hacking hate machine that can hack anything….
in reality, anonymous is a feared name…. but a bunch of script kiddies running loic to crash websites.
23 Jul 2011, 6:27 am
What I think is that the media is misusing the name “Anonymous” so much that they managed to get the real members into trouble. Could be another group like Lulzsec or Anon’s rival party.
