NZXT Phantom Build Log (updated again)
Someone should teach me how to add the cool thumbnails next to my posts.
Alright, to minimize the spam on the community page, I’m going to keep all of my updates on one blog post and simply edit and add each time I have news.
First off, here are some snazzy pictures
DAY 1, case arrived 31st of November, waited all day til 7PM for it to come. Already too late for me to start working on it. Wanted some compressed air in my possession before I transfer everything over so I can clean it before hand.

Back of the Phantom with the panel off; lots of room for cable management. Some cables are already managed for you.

2 of the stock fans that are included; top 200mm has blue LED’s. Haruhi wall scroll in the back.

Tooless drive bay design. Pretty nifty. Tough rubberized plastic.
DAY 2, purchased some compressed air and prepared my work bench. Got it all done in 5 hours.

Front of the case, nice looking NZXT logo. Reminds me of white chocolate.

Quick snap of the cable work, colors are kinda off. Paper PSU cover; trying to find something to compartmentalize the entire PSU and its cables. Extremely satisfied with how things turned out. Off to make video.
To-Do-List
- Compartmentalize the PSU and its cables
- Move the DVD drive cables
- Compartmentalize the hard drive area.
More pictures should be up by Day 3 along with a video probably.
Day 3, Didn’t do anything; just edited the time lapse video.
Still can’t embed videos. Check the vidya, here

Crossed off PSU cable management from my to-do list. Moved all of the cables towards the back and charted an even better flow.

A side shot of the pooter while it was on. White balance makes the Xigmatek fans look like they have a blue LED, but they are indeed white. Ugly LED’s from the motherboard are an eyesore, gonna tape them off.
To do list:
- Flip top 200mm fan (it’s sucking air into the case instead of blowing it out; my own fault, not NZXT’s)
- Tape off motherboard LED
Also recorded the final video for the build; should be up tomorrow. Watching the Igglez game.

Looks good, maybe you shouldn’t cover the actual psu, just the cables, otherwise it looks too plain.

You have no idea how jealous i am right now… I planned on an NZXT Phantom, because i have been following it since the GDC last year. But unfortunately my PC fund fell considerably when universities decided to put fees up, so i had to go with the Bitfenix Core. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an awesome case. But it’s a mere peon compared to the almighty Phantom.
