I find that I prefer lists and reviews that are more categorized and/or historically-based, like Matt Barton’s Matt Chat series, or James Rolfe’s Monster Madness series he holds every October. Not so much into “#3 – Half-Life 2, #2 – Fallout, #1 – Deus Ex” or “9.3 / 10″. So if you guys were to do a list, I’d personally prefer it to be like that. Whatever works though.
It would probably be best to categorize it in genre first, then maybe date. (or genre and alphabetical).
On the WoW thing.
I wonder if blizzard had anything to do with the news article not being spread much, PR usually has to do something even if it involves death (or lose their jobs lol).
Ugh, what an idiot. I’m sure he feels bad for the death of his son (that he’s responsible for), but every time I see another of these “overweight mouthbreather lets video game addiction ruin his life” stories I just cant help but feel that these SHOULD be made public so kids can see that there are serious risks to overdoing it. Not to mention vegging out infront of a screen for too long will just turn you into a lazy fuck. Theres alot of smart kids who waste their youths getting into games to the point where they start neglecting other important things in their life. Spending 40 hours a week playing videogames isnt something to brag about. Unless its a special occasion, you should be ashamed for feeling content with such a boring life.
Basic TV is really a sin to watch, and I feel alot of kids who play games know that somewhat. But even though games are interactive and engage your brain a bit more than TV, most of the modern games are so dumbed down that you can barely compare them to games 10 years ago. In 2001 I was playing games where you didn’t have infinite health and continues, where you had to figure out simple strategies and explore. I thought that when technology increased games would just keep getting better. But developers didn’t make games more complex, they just tried to fool the player into thinking they were accomplishing something. Look at the new Assassin’s Creed, I couldn’t die in that game if I tried to, and I love how when you need to do something the game prompts you to just “press any button”. Donkey Kong for N64 was more advanced than that crap.
Anyway, ramblings aside, my point is just because something isn’t a chemical “drug” doesn’t automatically make it safe to indulge in. Everything in moderation.
