Koss Portapro Review

  1. Review time lords of the ghe,

    The KOSS PORTAPROS

These headphones are just fantastic! They’re really cheap (currently £17.99 on amazon), somewhat stylish with a retro 80’s look and the lifetime warranty is second to none with no questions asked about where you’ve been sticking it. I’ve recently had a replacement sent to me a couple of days after I had sent my original pair, which had one of the drivers becoming faulty after years of use and that’s why I had sent it.. sending it with royal mail second class recorded (which I had to pay for, costing me a couple of quid) and receiving it royal mail next day delivery (free). True story.

They’re extremely easy to drive; even the iphone can drive these babbys without breaking a sweat. They look the dog’s bollocks with the hints of powder blue. Most importantly, the sound coming from these headphones is just phenomenale, I mean seriously you’ll be gobsmacked if you do decide to get these headphnes and also if you don’t get these headphones.

    VERDICT: Sonics 9/10; Value 9/10; Aesthetics 8/10

    Overall, a Kickassbandit product!

    Yours graciously,

    G-G-G-G-G-unit Gandu

  2. Seeing that these things are so old it kind of put me off them. But I guess the technology doesn't age very quickly, can you compare them to anything modern? They may have quality and be cheap, but I don't think they look the dog's. Quite the opposite in fact :D

  3. Absolutely terrible sound quality, and leaking sound like hell.

Whenever I hear some "loud" noise in the morning at the bus terminal, I guess that it's a portapro kid, and I'm almost always right.

  4. be careful when ordering these. there are counterfeits being sold to unsuspecting customers,

    always buy from amazon

btw, one thing i love about these headphones is that they're really comfortable. They're really lightweight and don't cause fatigue, I can wear these for hours on end and totally forget that I have them on

i'm not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination. I have owned beyerdynamic dt990 pro 250 ohm headphones and fiio DAC and amps in the past. i didn't like the beyerdynamics because it felt like a burden to wear... you know what, i'll write a review on them..
what i can tell you is that the difference between el-cheapo headphones/earphones (or even the average stereo speakers, logitech, trust etc.) and the koss portapros is night and day. the bass is great and for nooby audiophiles like myself bass=wow. you can also pick up on some detail lost on crappy speakers/headphones etc found in the similar price range. btw, amazon is now selling them for £16.99. nothing comes close to the quality at that price point

And you can wear them outside the house without looking like an elephant (as you would with a pair of Beyers).

  7. *

    AKG 518LE

Been my daily headphones for over a year now
    - Great sound
    - Great quality
    - Blocks sound from outside the headphones, LIKE A BOSS.
    - Barely leaking sound, even at max volumes
    - Keeps my ears warm in -30 celcius ^^

Only thing I dont like about them is that they can get a bit uncomfortable in 1hour+ usage, but you get used to it.

They are definetly more expensive (but not that much more). I'd rather have some solid and good piece of headphones for a bit higher price, when I'm using them for several hours, every day.

  11. really? this cans have the legendary stamp on them for being one of the best in the $50.00 price point. In the audiofile community they are praised for there non-muddy base and somewhat warm sound .As for music leaking, yeah they do leak, but the’re no Grado’s…now those things leak sound. This cans go on my “top favorite headphones” along with my audio Technica m50′s and Sennheiser HD598. Simply a fun headphone to listen to =)
